BEAUTE FILES: MORGAN WISE

@morganjane

Formally on Instagram as Skincare & Sneakers which says says it all as Morgan, 30 years old from Melbourne is a skincare obsessive who collects sneakers. Now on instagram as @morganjane you can only imagine her sneaker line up when her beauty shelfies are this good.

TSB: WHAT IS YOUR SKIN TYPE?

M: I currently have what I call ‘normal’ skin and have been breakout free for around 8 months after struggling for years with cystic acne. My main concern now is maintaining clear skin and reducing scars and hyper pigmentation.

TSB: WHAT DOES YOUR MORNING ROUTINE LOOK LIKE?

M: The first thing I do is make a cup of spearmint tea and take it to my bathroom to drink while I do my skincare routine. I don’t use a cleanser in the morning so I just splash with a bit of water and then I use the Herbivore Botanicals Jasmine Green Tea Toner. I then use the Drunk Elephant  C-Firma Vitamin C Serum, Lala Retro Whipped Cream Moisturiser + Shaba Complex Eye Cream. Then sunscreen, every single day without fail. I am currently using the Mecca Cosmetica Save Face SPF, which I really like.

TSB: WHAT IS YOUR NIGHT ROUTINE?

M: I do my night routine as soon as I get home from work every day and look forward to doing it. I’ll usually put on some music and light a candle if I’m doing a longer routine like a mask. I use the Clarisonic Mia Fit with the Cashmere Brush head with a cleanser to take off any make up and SPF build up. I’m currently using the Drunk Elephant Beste Cleanser. I then use the Herbivore Botanicals Toner, Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum and Lala Retro Moisturiser and the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Cream. I also use the Lush Sleepy Body Cream and the Lush Twilight Body Spray on my pillow to help me fall asleep.

TSB: WHAT IS YOUR NUMBER ONE PRODUCT YOU CANT LIVE WITHOUT?

M: Ooh this is a hard one. Can I choose two? This is what I imagine it would be like to choose a favourite child. I can’t pinpoint exactly what helped clear my skin, but I suspect that introducing AHA’s and BHA’S like glycolic acid and removing moisturisers that have unnecessary ingredients like fragrances, fillers etc made a huge difference. For that reason I’d pick Drunk Elephants TLC Serum and Lala Retro moisturiser.

TSB:  IF YOU WERE STUCK ON AN ISLAND WHAT 5 BEAUTY PRODUCTS YOU WOULD TAKE?

M: La Mer products so I could use them as a currency for trade if I were to run into other stranded females haha. But really - Drunk Elephant TLC, Lala Retro, A good bronzing/highlighting cream, and good lip balm and a Byredo Hand Cream.

TSB: WHATS ON YOUR BEAUTY WISH LIST AT THE MOMENT?

M: Mainly candles and perfume – pretty much anything Byredo or Diptyque. I’d also like to try some of the Lelabo fragrances and would die for a Fornasetti candle. Tatchas new Pearl Eye Treatment looks amazing too. I also want a really fancy electric toothbrush. Actually there’s a lot on my wishlist but at the same time I’d like to start minimizing my collection and getting rid of things I don’t need.

TSB: WHATS YOUR BEAUTY ADVICE?

M: Document your routine and changes in your skin, especially if you have a particular skin concern. You can then identify products and ingredients that your skin does and doesn’t like and then eliminate things accordingly. Also not every product and brand will work the same for everyone - someone else’s Holy Grail product could be your worst enemy. Don’t waste your money investing in a full new routine and expensive products just because they work for someone else.

TSB: WHAT IS YOU GO-TO MAKE UP LOOK?

M: No foundation, highlighter on my cheeks, Glossier Boy Brow, Stila Mascara and waterproof eyeliner. I’m not really a lipstick/gloss girl but occasionally I’ll do a red lip if I’m in a fancy mood.

TSB: WHAT IS YOUR SIGNATURE SCENT?

M: Do Son by Diptyque <3

TSB: WHO IN THE BEAUTY INDUSTRY DO YOU ADMIRE AND WHY?

M: I think Zoe Foster Blake is cool. There are so many amazing people on Instagram as well, it’s a great place to speak with like-minded people and get some advice from people who have been doing this for a while and know their stuff.
